Radformation tools have streamlined our workflow by automating routine and error-prone steps. We spend less time on manual verification and more time on clinical decision-making.”

In February, we shine the spotlight on Ms. Nusirat Adedewe, Medical Physicist at Medserve-LUTH Cancer Center in Lagos, Nigeria, a high-volume radiotherapy centre where precision, speed, and consistency are critical to delivering safe patient care at scale. Treating approximately 1,600 patients each year, Medserve-LUTH operates in an environment where efficiency is not a luxury, but a necessity. Every decision, every contour, and every check must balance accuracy with throughput. It is in this demanding setting that intelligent automation has become a powerful enabler of confidence and consistency.

Inside The Clinic

Medserve-LUTH is a large, multidisciplinary radiotherapy centre supported by 10 Clinical and Radiation Oncologists, 9 Medical Physicists, and 16 Radiation Therapists, working across three linear accelerators and multiple treatment planning systems. The clinical workload is diverse and complex, and at this scale, standardisation and speed are essential to maintaining quality without increasing manual effort. For Nusirat and her colleagues, the challenge is clear: deliver consistent, high-quality radiotherapy while keeping pace with a demanding daily schedule.

Tools Of The Trade

To meet this challenge, Nusirat and her team rely daily on four Radformation solutions: AutoContour, EZFluence, ClearCheck, and ClearCalc, each targeting a critical pressure point in the workflow. Once CT images are imported into the treatment planning system, site-specific AutoContour models generate organs at risk and target volumes that are then reviewed and refined rather than drawn from scratch. “With the volume of patients we treat daily, AutoContour significantly cuts down contouring time and improves consistency across patients,” says Nusirat. The result is faster turnaround, more uniform contours, and the ability for physicians to focus their time on clinical review rather than rework.

For treatment planning EZFluence plays a pivotal role for 3D conformal radiotherapy, where speed and repeatability are essential. “EZFluence speeds up our treatment planning, especially for 3DCRT plans,” Nusirat explains.

When it comes to quality assurance, ClearCalc stands out as Nusirat’s favourite Radformation tool. By providing fast, independent dose verification without interrupting clinical flow, it delivers confidence where it matters most. “ClearCalc gives us a reliable independent dose check without slowing down the workflow. It reduces manual calculation errors and gives high confidence in plan accuracy, which are crucial in a busy clinic,” she says. Automated MU verification strengthens patient safety while fitting seamlessly into routine physics QA. In a fast-paced clinical environment where interruptions are common, ClearCheck ensures ensures plan evaluation remains thorough and consistent. “Plan reviews are often disrupted by urgent issues. ClearCheck efficiently reviews plans without distractions, helping us stay focused on what matters,” Nusirat notes.

Before adopting Radformation, the team relied heavily on manual contouring for high patient volumes, experienced longer turnaround times, and depended on checklist-based plan reviews that were both time-consuming and more prone to missed issues. Today, automation has transformed daily practice. “Radformation tools have streamlined our workflow by automating routine and error-prone steps. We spend less time on manual verification and more time on clinical decision-making,” Nusirat says.

Partnerships That Matter

From onboarding through daily use, Nusirat describes the Radformation team as responsive, reliable and easy to work with. “Onboarding was well structured, and support has been quick and incredible. Emails, calls, and responses are always swift,” she shares. She is equally quick to acknowledge the people behind the scenes at Medserve-LUTH. “I would like to acknowledge my colleagues at Medserve-LUTH Cancer Center, from our extraordinary medical physicists and radiation oncologists to our radiotherapists, nurses, and patient experience team. I also thank the Radformation support team for their guidance and responsiveness. Their dedication makes our work both effective and rewarding,” Nusirat concludes.

Beyond the Linac: Fun Facts

When she steps away from physics, Nusirat enjoys spending time with her family, especially in the kitchen. Cooking and experimenting with new recipes inspired by cooking shows is her favourite way to unwind. Exploring dishes from different cultures helps her relax, stay creative, and connect with family and friends. As for comfort food, Nusirat believes it depends entirely on the moment, because comfort, after all, is situational.
